Stay Weird and Make More Money in Your Photography and Creative Service Business
It’s now 2023 and for me, personally, it is a new era. And era to let go of all bullshit and be an advocate for my other weirdos out there who are hiding behind their business in a polished, ‘business acceptable’ version of themselves.
This means they are dimming their own flame, interests, and uniqueness in a belief that they need to do this in order to get hired by clients for their creative service.
But that is doing SUCH a disservice to your business. Alchemizing your weird into your business is the only way always to feel connected to your business and attract the right people for you to help.
I've been spending the last 2 weeks mostly preparing for this year, for the upcoming epicness I'm going to be offering, and sinking into how I want 2023 to feel.
I have spent the last 2 decades almost working vigorously about the WHAT I want to accomplish and not the HOW I want to be.
Instead, this year I am focusing on the How and the Who, only.
How:
- I want to be
- feel
- spend my time
- help people
And Who:
- I help in what capacity
- is the best for me to help.
The industry is filled with people dishing general advice for the general industry public, and honestly, that kind of advice never worked for me which is why I paved my own way.
That advice doesn't speak to my creative weirdos, either.
For so many reasons. Because that kind of advice is like blanket 'best practices' but the truth is, there is no TRUE best practices, it's what works for you and keeps your business out of legal trouble. That's the best practice.
But as the weirdos, that advice doesn't work for us because our PERSPECTIVE is different.
- we are ND so most marketing advice doesn't work for us.
- we are often introverted, so most business-building advice doesn't work for us in a sustainable way.
- we have very different deep seeded fears that keep us in hiding due to being the weird kids growing up so general advice doesn't work for us because our nervous system doesn't feel safe.
- we tend to enjoy our businesses more on a BETTER NOT MORE perspective- better-fit clients, better-aligned marketing, better sales approach, and charging a premium for our unique skills and experience that being weird fuels.
In 2023 I am focusing on helping my proud weird kids find the power in being weird, the MONEY in being weird, and the bravery to transform their mindsets to allow it all to happen.
My motto for me, and for you, in 2023 is to:
